After ruling the race the entire season, Max Verstappen concluded the Formula One season on a high note with his decisive victory at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez’s point total was more than doubled by the Dutchman, who will be the overwhelming favorite to win four straight titles in 2024.
But it’s unclear if drivers like Lando Norris or Lewis Hamilton will be able to challenge Verstappen for the season’s final podium spot the following year. The former is still vying for an eighth world championship, but in order to consistently challenge Red Bull for the lead, Mercedes must provide him with a faster vehicle.
Conversely, if McLaren continues to improve their car, Norris may be poised to become Verstappen’s closest competitor. After making tremendous progress in the last few months, the Woking team will be hoping to launch an unexpected title challenge when the new season begins.
