Jon Rahm handed Saudi private jet and 10 staff. This is why

To join LIV Golf, Jon Rahm has reportedly signed a contract worth £450 million, but the Masters winner seems to be getting much more out of the deal.

As part of his groundbreaking contract with LIV Golf, Jon Rahm has been given access to a 10-person team and the royal jet of Saudi Arabia.

After weeks of conjecture, Rahm became the most recent well-known figure to join the LIV setup last Thursday. Rahm signed a reported £450 million deal with Greg Norman and company, making him the league’s biggest signing to date despite having signed players like Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson.

More information about the European Ryder Cup star’s mouthwatering contract has emerged in the days following his mega-money move, according to The Sun. The report claims that Rahm’s advantages go beyond his enormous pay cheque. “He will also have shares in the league to own and run one of the teams,” the source disclosed, “and the contract is for four and a half years.”

“Among the many benefits he received from the LIV were a private jet ride for him and his family on the Saudi Royal airline, as well as cash for housing and, I believe, eight to ten employees, including personal chefs and assistants.”

It’s believed that the Spanish player will receive half of his £450 million bonus up front before playing in his first season. Not only has Rahm’s contract shocked the golf world, but the entire sports world as well. The deal is the third largest in sports history, and it was the second for about a day until MLB player Shohei Ohtani signed the richest contract ever, a whooping £558 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Rahm was offered a sum of money that was too good to refuse from the Saudis, but he insisted that other factors also played a role in his decision. “I’ve seen the growth of LIV Golf and the innovation, and I think the game of golf has changed a lot over the past two years,” Rahm said to Fox News.

“I am here today for that reason. I made this choice based on a number of factors, including what I felt would be best for me. Do not misunderstand; this is a fantastic deal. Although I’ve been content, LIV Golf has a lot of really alluring things to offer. It was a really good deal. It’s obvious that the money is fantastic.

It’s true what I said earlier: I don’t play golf for financial gain. I play golf because I enjoy the game and golf itself. However, that is where that comes in—as a husband, a father, and a family man, it is my responsibility to provide my family with the best opportunities and the greatest resources available.

I’m used to hearing unfavorable things in the media and on social media. Since we’re well-known, it’s just part of the job, but you just have to learn how to handle it, right? Without a doubt, this won’t alter or define who I am.
