Lewis Hamilton did this to volunteers at the Mangrove Plantation Project. This is how they reacted…

Hamilton stunned volunteers in an unexpected appearance as they celebrated a significant milestone at the Mangrove Plantation Project.

In 2021, Mercedes’ technical partner PETRONAS provided funding for the Tanjung Surat project, which is located on a small island in the south of Malaysia.

Through reforestation, the Mangrove Plantation project aims to improve local biodiversity while also generating opportunities for the local community.

Hamilton: The Project Uplifts People

Hamilton watched as the team planted its 30,000th tree, shocking the project’s volunteers in Malaysia.

“Observing PETRONAS’s efforts to uplift and give back to the people throughout Malaysia is truly commendable,” Hamilton remarked.

Hamilton emphasized the milestone’s beneficial effects on the environment and called it a “honor” to watch it happen.

“Being present for the planting of the 30,000th tree today and the amazing work being done here to support our planet was an honor for me,” Hamilton continued.

It is incredibly motivating to observe firsthand how PETRONAS engages with volunteers and the neighborhood. This project benefits not only the surrounding area but also the larger environment.

Hamilton aspires to alter
The seven-time world champion has made no secret of his efforts to lessen his environmental impact in the past.

Hamilton talked with WE.org on Earth Day about his efforts to use his social media presence to change the world.

“Everyone has a voice, and in the last few years, I’ve really come to realize that I have this platform. I think it’s important to find your purpose,” Hamilton said. “I believe that using that platform to effect positive change is my purpose.

It doesn’t matter right now, you don’t have to be perfect, and in order to make even little changes in our lives, we will all need to band together. Since we are so fortunate to live on this planet, we ought to start taking good care of it.

“I think we should all work together to push for this because there is a serious crisis at hand and if we don’t, not only our future but also the future of our children is really in jeopardy.”
