Hamilton issues warning to Red Bull with exciting Merced …

Having seen Silver Arrow’s car for the upcoming season in the team’s wind tunnel, Lewis Hamilton has maintained that Mercedes can catch up to Red Bull in the 2024 Formula 1 season.

In 2023, Red Bull, under the leadership of Max Verstappen, was unmatched. Nineteen of the twenty-two races were won by the Dutchman and his team.

Mercedes had to battle it out with the other drivers to secure P2 in the constructors’ championship, narrowly defeating Ferrari by three points.

The team scored less than half of the Milton Keynes-outfit’stotalpoints, finishing 451 points behind Red Bull in the end.

However, Hamilton, who finished third in the drivers’ championship, thinks Mercedes can catch Red Bull after getting a sneak peek at the W15 that will not be revealed until the upcoming season.

Hamilton: Red Bull can be caught by Mercedes.
At the FIA end-of-season awards gala, he declared, “It’s always the exciting time of the year because I have seen the car in the wind tunnel.”

When I visit the factory, I always pass by the wind tunnel to watch it change in whatever direction it ultimately goes.

“As soon as I was heading out, I stopped by once more to check on us, and this time, the animal had changed.

“However, I’m confident that everyone working on it will succeed, and I think we’ll be in a much more competitive position next year.”

Later in the evening, he said, “I have to say a big congratulations to Red Bull and to Max and Checo.” They’ve performed amazingly well this year. Max performed flawlessly.

We have a lot of work ahead of us to close that gap, but the team truly raised the bar. However, I firmly think that we can bridge that gap.

“A special thanks goes out to my team for never giving up this year. For the majority of the year, the car we began with was essentially the sister of the one from the previous year, so it wasn’t very enjoyable to drive, but nobody gave up.

“What inspired me the most was how everyone kept showing up every day.

“I hope we give it our all when we return next year.”
