Shocking footage has emerged of Scottie Scheffler, the world’s top golfer, being taken into custody by police just hours before the second round of the PGA Championship. According to reports, Scheffler was detained by police near Valhalla Golf Club on Friday morning.

The number one ranked golfer was scheduled to tee off at 1:48 pm BST after a strong first-round performance, but things took an unexpected turn when he was placed in handcuffs and detained by police officers at the golf club entrance.

Eyewitnesses report that Scheffler was involved in a misunderstanding with a police officer regarding traffic flow measures, which led to the altercation. ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington, who captured the incident on camera, described the scene: “The police officer attempted to stop Scheffler’s car, and Scheffler then stopped his vehicle at the entrance to Valhalla.

The police officer began yelling at Scheffler to exit the car, and when he did, the officer pushed him against the car and placed him in handcuffs. He is now being held in the back of a police car.”

In the video, a police officer can be heard saying, “He’s going to jail, and there’s nothing you can do about it.” A charge sheet filed by the local court reveals that Scheffler has been charged with multiple offenses, including assaulting a police officer, criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals. According to ESPN+, Scheffler has been taken back to Valhalla Golf Club, casting uncertainty over his participation in the tournament.
