Novak Djokovic will own a significant record for himself after the Australian Open in 2024.

The Serbian champion will maintain a goal that he had set himself on the eve of Melbourne, also thanks to the simultaneous defeat of Carlitos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals

Novak Djokovic has already achieved a goal he set himself on the eve of the Australian Open 2024. Carlos Alcaraz’s elimination against Alexander Zverev was undoubtedly the surprise of the quarter-finals at the Australian Open, but it allowed the Serbian star to maintain a very important milestone for him.

Everyone expected to see the Spanish champion as Daniil Medvedev’s next opponent in the semi-final, but a performance well below his potential and a super-Zverev denied him access to the top four.

A defeat which, as mentioned a few lines above, indirectly affects all of his opponents, but one in particular: Djokovic. The reason, as can easily be understood, concerns the ATP ranking, which will be in favor of the Serb, regardless of how the semi-final match with Jannik Sinner goes.

Legend, Novak Djokovic💪🏾

After an intense fight for the throne of men’s tennis with Carlos last year, Djokovic only managed to snatch the ATP No.1 sport in the final stages of the season.

At the beginning of 2024, losing the points from last year’s victory in Melbourne, the chances of Alcaraz overtaking him became much more concrete, but the elimination from the Happy Slams changed the situation again.

Novak Djokovic will close the Australian Open as ATP No.1

“I won’t have any advantage. We have two days of recovery”

Nole, in the conference after beating Fritz, doesn’t think he was given any consideration for playing a few hours before his next challenger, Sinner.

“We have two days and I think it’s not a big advantage. We will play the semi-finals on Friday, there is all the time possible and tonight whoever wins has time to recover. Scheduling is always an issue, we talked about it several times and even a few games ago.

We cannot give a clear answer on this, it is up to the organizers of the Grand Slam and the ATP circuit to make sure that all tennis players feel adequately and not necessarily everyone does,” explained the Serbian champion. Tomorrow, Djokovic will face Jannik Sinner to get a place in the final.
