Using social media, the British driver—the only Black driver in Formula One whose paternal grandparents immigrated to Britain from the Caribbean—has shared his travelogue to Namibia, Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania.

In an Instagram post, the 37-year-old said, “These past two weeks have been some of the best days of my entire life.”

“After experiencing so much beauty, love, and tranquility on this trip, I feel completely transformed man than I was before.”

“I couldn’t express how I’m feeling right now and what I’m trying to say through photos,” he said to his 29.5 million followers. “Remember that deep emotions often speak louder than words.”

Calls for F1 race in Africa
For a long time, Hamilton has advocated for Formula One to hold races in the continent, and the race is currently in talks with South African organizers about making its first return to Kyalami since 1993.

Hamilton, an outspoken advocate for racial equality and diversity, stated last year, “The place that I really feel is dear to my heart and most important for me is to get a race back in South Africa.”

“I believe there’s a large fan base out there, and it would be wonderful to showcase the motherland’s breathtaking beauty.”
