Sinner Faces Secret CAS Hearing Amid Doping Scandal Lausanne, April 15, 2025
Tennis world No. 1 Jannik Sinner is embroiled in fresh controversy as leaked documents reveal a closed-door Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) hearing addressing new allegations of evidence tampering in his doping case.
The hearing, initially scheduled for April 16–17, was canceled after Sinner’s three-month settlement with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) but reportedly uncovered attempts to delete messages related to his 2024 Clostebol contamination incident.
Sponsors Nike and Rolex are reviewing ties with the Italian star amid fears of reputational fallout, while rivals criticize the settlement as preferential treatment.
“Rules should apply equally,” Novak Djokovic stated, echoing broader concerns over equity in anti-doping enforcement. Sinner’s team denies wrongdoing, citing WADA’s acknowledgment of “no intent to cheat.”
The unresolved findings could threaten Sinner’s French Open participation if reopened.
He is set to return May 7 at the Italian Open, but the scandal’s shadow lingers.
