Lewis Hamilton’s reaction towards Toto Wolff after second winless season

Toto Wolff’s leadership at Mercedes and the way he has approached moving the team back towards the front of the field have received high appreciation from Lewis Hamilton.

Since Formula 1’s most recent rule change in 2022, Mercedes has only won one race—George Russell in Brazil in 2022—while Hamilton hasn’t won since the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in 2021.

Hamilton stated that he and Wolff have been involved in the recovery process, even though work has been done in the background to get the team back to the front of Formula 1.

Toto Wolff “hasn’t lost an ounce of his competitiveness,” according to Lewis Hamilton.

Even though Mercedes trailed Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship this season, it will be difficult for the former world champions to relive their glory in 2024 given the gap they must close to become the sport’s dominant force.

With that objective in mind, Hamilton agreed to a new two-year contract, his main objective still being a record eighth World Championship.

The British player, who has collaborated with the team principal at Mercedes since their arrival, praised him for the way he approaches his work at the Silver Arrows.

At the FIA Prize Giving Gala, Hamilton responded, “I mean, Toto is an amazing leader,” in response to a question concerning Wolff’s ongoing influence at Mercedes as the team attempts to regain the lead.

“It goes without saying that I’ve known him for a long time; we joined the team at the same time, and it’s been an interesting journey for us both to grow with the team and watch his vision develop inside the team’s structure.

“He is still fiercely competitive and hasn’t lost a bit of it. You see it on TV when he’s attempting to strike a balance between his personal and professional lives while working from his tiny desk in the garage. I think he’s done a pretty fantastic job there.

“However, I believe that we should just keep pushing everyone. Yesterday, we spoke with the team as a group.

“He is an extremely personable leader. I believe that people can identify with him because of his motivation, compassion, and feelings. He is extremely perceptive.

When you’re working toward something, but it’s not quite working out the way you want it to, I believe that nobody on the team has found it easy.

“I believe he has learned a lot, and I’m really proud of the progress he has made not only as a person but also as a human being.”
