UAE Team Emirates-XRG is leaving no stone unturned in preparing Tadej Pogacar for the upcoming season. While the team believes Pogacar still has room for physical and mental growth, they’re also equipping him with cutting-edge technology – the Colnago Y1Rs bike.
The Colnago Y1Rs is the latest flagship model from the Italian bike manufacturer, boasting unparalleled aerodynamic efficiency. (link unavailable) sat down with Project Engineer Filippo Galli to discuss the bike’s features and its partnership with UAE Team Emirates-XRG.
Although the Colnago Y1Rs won’t be available for public purchase until May, priced at €10,500, Pogacar and his teammates have been testing it since December. The bike’s official description reads: “Designed to defy the wind, the Colnago Y1Rs is the ultimate expression of aerodynamic efficiency.”
Unlike the V4RS, Pogacar’s go-to bike for dominating climbs, the Y1Rs is tailored for flat and rolling terrain. As cycling continues to evolve, teams are recognizing the importance of specialized equipment for each race.
According to Galli, wind tunnel tests have demonstrated the Y1Rs’ impressive aerodynamic capabilities, saving 20 watts at speeds of 50 kilometers per hour. With the Colnago Y1Rs, UAE Team Emirates-XRG is confident Pogacar will have the edge he needs to dominate the competition.
